Questions

So I voted yesterday. The Polling Station was very quiet and the ballot paper was over two feet long. Bizarre. A canvasser wanted my polling number, but I told him I didn’t have my polling card with me (which was true) and he looked horrified by this. I was decidedly unimpressed with him, as it is none of his business, and it made me glad I didn’t have the card with me.

I’m almost at the end of the first week of my new job and it has gone ok. I still can’t get my head around how they have quite such an inscrutable database that you can’t even search properly. This then makes me scratch my head on how I can then copy other people’s homework, as someone else has probably dealt with similar issues in the past. I will clearly have to be more ingenious – or just ask people instead.

I reckon you have a lot of ingenuity and you'll figure it out.

Kahless - G did tell me off for keeping on doing some work, but I feel much better prepared for next week now and so I think it was worth it.

When I went to the Polling Station, I did wonder how on Earth I was supposed to keep my vote secret when the ballot paper was so long it stretched over the table area. But it was so quiet, there was no one to see me voting anyway! :@)

Glad your new job is going well. Hope you figure everything out.

Hi RT - I hadn't thought about the secrecy element, but I think you are right. I think the polling clerks were also quite surprised by how quickly I cast my vote. Perhaps most people spent ages trying to read all the parties and candidates.

The job is going fine and I am slowly learning the ropes...
