Sorted

I gave in and bought a Sat Nav on Friday. A TomTom to be precise. Despite being rather anti such things, I have actually become rather engrossed in messing about with it. We drove to Oxford yesterday to see G’s cousin and we tested it out. This did also highlight that it displays the speed of travel, which may have been something that G was best off not knowing... I downloaded a map of Canada for the Sat Nav and have also programmed in the addresses of various places that we are staying, so hopefully we can't get lost. We also decided on loads of CDs to take with us to Canada and that is now sorted and next we need to decide on a talking book or two to take with us.

On Friday I went back to where I used to work to sort out the rest of my stuff. While I was there my old boss told me that the woman who worked for me had got the bonus I had put her forward for. So while I was there I told her about that. She was rather overwhelmed, as she hadn’t been expecting it at all, and she told me she thought she might cry! She then said she would take me out for lunch to say thank you. I told her it would be nice to go for lunch but she did not have to pay, but she was set on the idea. So we are now going to meet up after my hols, on my birthday, and go for lunch. My old boss asked if he could come along too, so the three of us are going to meet up, which will be really nice and gives me something nice to look forward to when I get back from holiday.

Anyway it’s off to work and I get to spend quite a lot of time with some dogs today. My new job is good fun sometimes!

Working with dogs?
Now I am confused as to what you do.
Am I allowed to start guessing?
Firstly I think public sector?

Kahless - I don't work with dogs, I just got to play with them for a morning. There were puppies as well as full grown dogs and they were lovely.

I am not likely to tell you what I do via my blog - and actually it is so specific that it would reveal to the world exactly where I work, but I do work in the public sector...

FIMG - yes we are hiring a car. We could have hired a SatNav as part of it but it would have cost about £150 and then I would have had to hand it back, whereas by spending about the same amount buying one, I get to keep it. Seems a better deal to me!

I tailor the word verification thins to each of my readers...

Am a bit worried about the sat nav. Can't help thinking that diy with a map is more fun. On the otherhand, you do hear some hair-raising tales about malevolent sat navs leading you on exciting mystery tours. Perhaps there is some fun to be had this way...

I would put myself in the "loathe" satnav category and am much more into (badly) reading a map. I got it because of going to Canada at the end of next week. But already it has drawn me in and cast a spell over me. It must be the hypnotic voice giving me directions.

I may have to turn it off sometimes to go back to the days of getting horrendously lost. I am going to Nottingham this weekend and last time I got totally lost. So I could try that again!

RR - ah now I understand, v sensible! Of course I should have guessed :-)
Me and the husbutch love our satnag. (but sometimes, when someone may or may not have pmt, they may or may not get rather oppositional with it. Not a good thing.....) <--- not me btw

FIMG - I did wilfully disobey the SatNav on Sunday despite her very persistent nature.

"Sensible" is my middle name. My parents were very cruel...
