Addict

G recently got a Blackberry. They are not sometimes called a “crackberry” for no good reason. I now regularly have to perform interventions so that we can speak, eat, watch TV and so on. I am going to have to find some way to remove G’s Blackberry each evening and not return it until the morning if things continue like this. Who knew a mobile telephony device could be so evil?

I had good news at work yesterday. It looks like I can stay on rather longer than expected – at least a year longer. Now I just need to get a new contract signed and sealed. We’ll see what happens longer term, but it is good to be able to stop wondering when I need to start looking for a new job, but not wanting to start looking for one because I want to stay there. Anyway, hopefully that won’t be a concern again for a while.

Good news about your job - you can, as you say, put it out of your mind for the time being and enjoy the coming summer (we hope!)

Just be thankful it's not an iPhone ! I now think of mine as an extra limb.

wicked news on the job front!
As for the Blackberry - I have one for work and even on my days off Im caught looking at emails!! The only thing for it is confiscation.....good luck!

Cool about the job.

I cant be parted from my blackberry except by confiscation. Or you might want to introduce a fine / forfeit scheme.

ChrisB - now I just have to wait for them to come up with the contract. They're not always that good about coming up with the important pieces of paper...

LKSN - I will be grateful for small mercies then. I am finding a blackberry difficult enough to cope with and it isn't even mine.

Spudgy - I have had a word with G a few times already about looking at work e-mails in the evening etc. I might have to get strict!

Kahless - I have threatened to put the blackberry in the freezer every evening. I am not sure why the freezer, maybe I think it is more soundproof. I might have to start my intervention soon though.

Good news on the job front. I sympathise with G though. I'd addicted to my iPhone. I don't think I could do without it.

anothercookiecrumbles - Thanks. I am scared by how addicted people seem to be to their blackberry or their iPhone. I feel that I suddenly have a new perspective on the world.
