Trauma

We watched Slumdog Millionaire last night. I was traumatised by the end of the film (and throughout). Why did no-one tell me what the film was like? I thought it would be some nice heart warming story instead there was murder and mayhem - and some Bollywood dancing at the end.

I tend not to watch 18 rated films anyway because I don’t like films that are violent. But now we might now only watch U rated films and I am not sure if that can include ones that “contain mild peril”.

Last night’s experience reminded me of an episode from Friends:

Another film that will hit you in the gut. Check out The Boy In Striped Pajamas

voyeur36 - I have read the book, so I can begin to imagine what the film is like. I think I'll take your comment as a warning!

My OH has just got Slumdog Millionaire out. He thought I was going to watch it with him! Hm. We'll see...

Sarah - it was a good film. It just wasn't a "feel good" film as such and it made me feel rather sad (and traumatised!) in places.

People rave about it - and it won an Oscar - and it is worth watching.

The choice is yours...

Kahless - I feel as though I must be wrong in my view of it because people have raved about it so much. But I did genuinely find it traumatic. I would be interested to know what you make of it.
