Anger

I have started a new book. It is non-fiction – The Angry Island by AA Gill. So far, it spears that he was born in Scotland lived there for the first year of his life and then moved to England. His book is about the English, and it seems he is not really a fan.

Whilst I am English, I was born and raised in England, if someone asked me what nationality I am, I would say I was British and am not a massive fan of knocking the various parts of the Union. I am not sure how I will get on with this book and might have to abandon it if it makes me angry, which would be an ironic turn of events given the subject of the book.

Oh, you must read it. If it makes you really angry that will be an excuse for a good rant, which we will all enjoy reading!

I think AA Gill is like marmite, love him or hate him. I am entrenched firmly on the 'love him' side of the divide, but find his detractors pretty funny, even so. I also (not defending him in anyway) suspect that he likes to play devil's advocate, and most of what he says is for effect, rather than issuing from sincerity. Is that better or worse?!

Sarah - I don't think I can bring myself to read it. I have put it to one side for now.

I am a big fan of marmite, but not so much f AA Gill I think. Perhaps I should read some of his articles to try and warm to him a bit more before reading one of his books.

Kahless - I shall bear that in mind. Perhaps this means a liking for warm pints and dragons.
