Despair

I was meant to do some volunteering last night, but it was cancelled because scary man was off sick. I think this is an incredibly rare event (in fact on Saturday he told us that he had only been off sick for three days in the last 20 years), but we may finally have found some ‘weakness’ in him.

I read an article yesterday about how one branch of Tesco has banned people from shopping in their pyjamas. I am not a big fan of Tesco, but hooray for them! What are people doing going shopping in their pyjamas? Pyjamas are nightclothes and should be reserved for that purpose. Personally, I wouldn’t even go into my own back garden in my night clothes, let alone somewhere more public than that. When I get up, I get dressed and the day starts, I’m not a fan of sitting about in my nightclothes. If people stop shopping at Tesco as a result of this, somehow I don’t think it will be that great a loss. I think it is fair enough to require people to get dressed before they go out. I despair.

I heard some of the interviews with those people, and I think it is important to note that they do go to Tesco in their BEST pyjamas. (Althougn I understand that at Aldi it is another story...) To parade about in just any old pyjamas would be slovenly!

Seriously, I think you are quite right.

Scary man sick? That has quite blown my image of him. Trying to find some sympathy, but really, scary men should not be allowed to be sick!

Ah, yes, the Tesco and pyjamas scandal. That was fairly amusing. Is it so hard to put on a pair of jeans? Honestly..

Honestly, I've never done it, but I don't think it's that wrong, as long as the pyjamas are "decent". I mean, it's early on a Saturday, and you're just running down to Tesco to get some breakfast. Should what you wear matter?

Just playing devil's advocate...

What cracked me up when I read the Tesco story was the pyjama offenders were usually single mums from a local council estate. And one of the mums was quoted as saying its not fair as they dont have time to get all dressed up......makes you wonder how some people see how the rest of us dress.........

Sarah - I am pleased that there are clearly standards to be maintained. Wearing your nightwear out of the house is just ripe for cross-contamination. Think of all those things that you must come into contact with as you go round the supermarket - and then you take them home with you and potentially sleep with them (so to speak). Ick.

I entirely agree on scary man. Perhaps he is only human after all. Surprising!

y - clearly it is harder than we thought!

anothercookiecrumbles - I suspect one person's decent is not the same as others. I think there might be times when people get to see rather more than planned! But it's also the hygiene thing. And it's just wrong (as is starting a sentence with the word "and")!

spudgy - I do wear my Sunday best to the supermarket. It's an important occasion and you can't select a Granny Smith if you're not in your best frock.

I guess at least they are wearing something, as I suspect that not everyone who wears pyjamas to the supermarket actually wears them to bed...

Hi! We have been going to Austria for a long time - have to get my mountain fix each year! Will you be touring around by train when you get there? If so would be interested to hear all about your plans! We fancy going to Jersey too, and have been toying with the idea. Good luck with all the planning!

Kahless - I feel I know what your comment was going to go then. I hope you at least wear your best pyjamas!

lmfao!!!!!

Yep!

Well not quite.

I have a collection of old T-shirts I wear instead of PJ's and I am known to get up and go out in them!

I am a natural born slob!

Kahless, Kahless, Kahless, what can I say? When I see you face plastered up in Tesco on a wanted poster, I'll know that one day you crossed the slob line that bit too far!
